We are now entering the fourth month since the first planting of the first batch of planting season at our agroforestry demonstration project in Besole, covering about 20 hectares of forest area. The fourth month after planting is the crucial phase of banana cultivation, and our team is focusesd on ensuring that all farmers follow the cultivation standardsprocedure designedestablished by JNBS.
To support our farmers during this important phase, we recently held meetings with all farmers participating in the project. The key objectives of this meeting were to:
Evaluate the progress of the planting.
Provide the Kknowledge refreshment for the cultivation procedures set by JNBS.
Socialisation on managing pests and diseases.
Discuss best practices for banana cultivation.
We were fortunate to have our banana expert consultant, Mr. Wahyudi, leading a session on managing pests and diseases in banana crops. Mr Wahyudi has 30-years working experience on cavendish banana plantationsplantation. He also conducted hands-on training with the farmers on cultivation techniques, such as weeding and insecticide application. The enthusiasm and eagerness of our farmers to learn and grow together was truly inspiring!
At the end of this meeting, the Management Board of Argo Makmur Lestari farmer group, the demonstration plot farmers, and the JNBS team agreed to hold regular meetings every two months to evaluate the growth and progress of each farmer's demonstration plot. This initiative will enablehelp the farmers to continuouslyally improve ourtheir practices and ensure the best possible outcomes for our agroforestry efforts.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey toward sustainable and impactful agroforestry development!
